The climate in Ziro is mild through the year, making it comfortable to travel all year round.

Ziro Valley is well connected with all major means of transportation with the other parts of India. However, the most convenient way to reach here would be to take a train to either North Lakhimpur or Naharalagun and from there hire a taxi to Ziro.

Ziro is the census town in Lower Subansiri district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It has been a favourite town for World Heritage Site for a number of years now. In a meeting of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on 12 December 2012 it was shortlisted for inclusion in the Tentative List for further nomination to UNESCO for inscription in the World Heritage Site.The part of the town which is the centre of economic activities and where the administrative offices are located is called as Hapoli or locally known by the Apatanis as "Hao-Polyang".Ziro is around 115 km from the state capital Itanagar and takes approx three and a half hours via the improved Hoj-Potin road along NH229 and 150 km via the Assam route. Earlier the nearest railway station from Ziro was located at Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh near the Arunachal-Assam border which is around 100 km from Ziro.

Best Time to Visit


SUMMERS :

In summer time, which is between April and June, Ziro becomes quite warm. The average temperature ranges between 6 and 20 Degree Celsius making it a great time to be visited by the tourists.

MONSOONS :

The monsoon period is pleasant also which average temperature between 2 and 19 Degree Celsius. However, reaching Ziro via Assam can get little difficult because of the flood-like condition in this neighbouring state.

WINTERS :

Winter period between October and March is quite appropriate to plan a holiday in Ziro. Where on the one side the temperature dips till -13 Degree Celsius (sometimes), the day time can be as warm as 14 Degree Celsius. Carry a lot of heavy woollens and you will be able to enjoy winters in Ziro as well.


How to Reach


BY AIR :

The nearest airport from Ziro is at Jorhat, Assam which is 98 kms away. Another airport is at Lilabari, which is at a distance of 123 kms from Ziro. The nearest international airport of Ziro is at Guwahati at a distance of about 449 kms.

BY RAIL :

The railway stations from Ziro are at Naharalagun (100 kms) and North Lakhimpur (117 kms). Regular Intercity train from Guwahati and once a week one train from New Delhi ply to Naharalagun.

BY ROAD :

There is a night bus from Guwahati to Ziro. The bus, operated by the Arunachal Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation runs four days a week. Alternatively, one can travel to North Lakhimpur or Itanagar and take a shared taxi to Ziro from there.
