Durgapur in Burdwan District of West Bengal is the brain child of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the second chief minister of Bengal. Durgapur is one of the most popular and 4th largest urban agglomerations of Bengal that has experienced significant growth in industries and residential townships. Apart from modern day shopping malls and district centres, Durgapur is spotted with ancient remains that are replica of its long gone history. Bhabani Pathak's Tilla, a historical landmark in Durgapur has appeared in the great literally works of writer Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The Tilla is basically a network of tunnels that start near Durgapur City Centre and stretch up to Damodar River. The features and intricacies of the tunnel are described in the novels like ‘Durgesh Nandini’ and ‘Devi Chaudhurani’. Few important features you need to keep in mind while visiting the attraction are: The tunnel is presently closed for public view. Now people can only visit the Tilla or the Science Park.
