Kaziranga biodiversity park Travel Guide

Kaziranga National Orchid and Bio Diversity Park is located at a distance of 2 km from Kohora range, Kaziranga, spanning over a wide area of 18 bighas of land of Durgapur village is the largest orchid park of its kind that had added a new dimension to the glory and pride of Kaziranga National Park. Till date, scientist’s have discovered only 850 varities of orchids in the North Eastern region of India. Out of the total 1314 species of orchid found in India, Kaziranga National Orchid Park alone boasts of possessing little more than 500 varities of orchid collected from different part of North East. Besides orchid, Kaziranga National Orchid and Biodiversity park houses 132 variety of sour fruits and leafy vegetables, 12 variety of canes and large number of local fishes.

The park also houses a center to promote native cultures in Assam. These art forms are regularly shown to arriving tourist in the evening. 
Apart from these the park has got North East India’s ethnic food stall, a flower garden with beautiful species in it.
A traditional cloth weaving area where the local people hand weave their own clothes.
The old and traditional Dheki, threshing, to separate rice grains from their outer husks, while leaving the bran layer, thus producing brown rice is also kept so that the heritage doesn’t get lost with the invent of modern technologies.
The time spent among the beautifully planted Orchids just waiting to bloom during the month of April, the beautiful landscape, the productive information, the traditional folk dances and the nature walk was a day worth spent. One should definitely go and get a glimpse of this beautiful yet naturally preserved heritage.
