Assam is world famous for its quality of tea as well as the natural beauty of the tea plantation area. Enormously found mountain region, its greenery and pleasant climate make this location popular not only for its tea, but also for being a popular spot for enjoying eco- vacations. Assam, the home to origin of Indian Tea, some 165 years ago, is also one of the most famous Tea production spots in the world. The both sides of famous river, Brahmaputra, constitute the world's largest Tea growing area. Full bodied and malty flavored Assam Tea offers bright liquor that is enjoyed by all Tea drinkers.Assam is the world's largest tea growing region, producing more then 400million of kgs of tea annually. Beautiful tea estates of Assam cover about 2,16, 200 hectares of land. Assam today comprises of more than 100 tea estates. Cropping season normally begins from March and lasts by mid December. The first plucking starts in March and continuous for around two months. The second plucking season starts from June. Nowhere in the world the tea grows in such a large quantity as in Assam. Some of the major tea estates in Assam are Ambika, Gogaidubi, Jamirah, Amguri, Wiliamson Tea Estates, tea estates of Tata Group of Companies, Talap and many more.

In the lowlands of Assam, near the banks of River Brahmaputra is where modern tea has been given birth. Jorhat is one of the major tea producing regions of India. Watching tea growing in such vast expanse is a treat to the eyes. And as you walk through the gardens you will witness workers plucking tea leaves, cleaning the gardens, and nurturing plants. These beautiful tea gardens of Jorhat are complimented with imperial bungalows that were built during the British era and serve as great option for accommodation. The Tocklai Tea Research center (India’s largest tea research centre) is also located here on the banks of the river Tocklai.

Jorhat is one of the lesser known tea producing gem of India where an annual tea festival takes place during winters. Assam Tea Festival is also a good time to enjoy golfing in the Jorhat Gymkhana, the world’s  third oldest golf-club that is still in use.

Cinnamora Tea Estate was established by Maniram Dewan, a sirastadar of an assistant commissioner, who worked under the British administration at Jorhat. Established in 1850, this estate is the first tea garden of Assam.
