The Nehru Park, situated right opposite the famous Cotton College in Guwahati, is a very popular tourist attraction in the city. Named after the first prime minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru, this beautiful park is open for all. The area where the park is located is an age old institutional area of the city with a number of reputed colleges located nearby. Right opposite to the park is the age old Cotton College, built by the British back in the days. There are various attractions in Nehru Park. Besides the numerous trees that offers a pristine and verdant environment in the park, there are around 45 concrete statutes. The statues depict the various dance forms of the state including Bihu, Jhumur dance (dance of the tea tribes of Assam), Deodhani nritya, Ojapali dance and Bor taal dance etc. There is also a rock garden and a, open air theater.
